Adam Eckersley and Gary MacKenzie to have operations

St Mirren Alan Stubbs has confirmed that both Adam Eckersley and Gary MacKenzie will have operations to try and correct injury issues that have ruled them out this season.
Neither defender has featured so far this season and they will now go under the knife.
Speaking to the press yesterday at the unveiling of new signing Lee Hodson, Stubbs said: “We’ve got to the stage now where Adam Eckersley is getting an operation on Thursday and Gary MacKenzie is going to need a big operation which is going to keep him out for a considerable amount of time.
"Gary hasn’t had a setback – I think it had got to the stage where we were not seeing the improvement that we expected.
"We’ve got a second opinion from a specialist down in London and he has advised us now that he needs the operation."
Stubbs also gave an update on loanee Danny Rogers who suffered an injury in Monday’s reserve league match against Dundee United.
The goalkeeper is awaiting a scan to determine the extent of the injury.
Stubbs said: "At this moment we are just waiting for him to get a scan and let the professionals decide what the diagnosis is."St Mirren Alan Stubbs has confirmed that both Adam Eckersley and Gary MacKenzie will have operations to try and correct injury issues that have ruled them out this season.
